In Southern Rhone, at the edge of Provence, you'll find Tavel rose ONLY appellation. In Tavel, the finest vineyard sites, the oldest vines and with the utmost care is dedicated to crafting serious rose pink wine isn't an afterthought, it's the flagship product. Perhaps that's why Tavel rose was the favorite wine of King Louis XIV and many wine drinkers since. Tavel rose's are deep salmon to ruby-pink in color, fuller on the palate and complex. They stand out in a sea of pale, flavorless pink juice as a serious and versatile wine.
If you are a rose drinker, you should have a few bottles from Tavel in your rotation and my pick would be 2016 Prieure de Montezargues.
Pairs well with a wide range of cuisine especially grilled.
